A Lesson From the Trail

7/99 Zeleski State Forest

"The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness."

Ps 72:3

Day 1

Doing an overnighter and wanted to try something different.  Night Hiking!  I got at the trailhead before dark and hiked pretty hard because I wasn't sure how much the dark would slow me down.

It was so muggy that every pour in my body was pumping out sweat and I was steaming.  I saw a Luna Moth that was as big as a small bird.  It was kind of weird seeing this huge green thing with glowing red eyes flying right at me.  Very cool!  I really didn't see any other wildlife besides this.

I made it to point H at about 1 AM.  I was using my new hammock and it was great.  I had to have something between me and the hammock as it is one of the cheap nylon mesh ones and the material cut into me.  It was the best night of sleep I've ever had on the trail.

Day 2

I hiked out the next day in the heat.

Total Miles: 12
