A Lesson From the Trail

Drinks

Mary's Spiced Tang

This stuff tastes great hot:

2 c. Tang

1/4 c. instant tea with lemon and sugar

1 t. cinnamon

1/2 t. cloves

1/2 t. ginger

Use 2 heaping teaspoons per cup

Mary

Nigal's Cornholio Cocktail

Combine in a 1 qt. water bottle:

2 packs of Carnation's Instant Breakfast Drink

5 tablespoons of sugar

3 tablespoons of Ironman Whey Protein

1/3 cup (aprox.) powdered milk

This is a good one I like during the hot months when I don't eat much.  This has  a good balance of carbs and protein so it sticks with you on the trail.  Drink this with a MegaMan vitamin and a Cliff Bar and you will be running down the trail with your t-shirt stretched over your head yelling, "I AM CORNHOLIO!" in no time flat!  It's good hot too.

Here is the rough nutritional information for this drink:

Calories:  510

Cholesterol:  40mg.

Sodium:  475mg.

Carbs:  81gr.

Protein:  39gr.

Potassium:  500mg.

This does not count the five tablespoons of sugar either.

Nigal's Own

Ray's Hot Cuppa Sweet Milk

Combine in a ziplock:

1 cup dry milk

1/2 cup sugar

1 pinch cinnamon

1 pinch nutmeg

1 pinch cloves

Mix this all up and spoon it out as needed for one of the best hot drinks I can imagine on a cold winter night.  Good cold too.

Lightweight is all relevant.  Is a pint of Guinness lightweight?  Yes I say!  It is lighter than bottled Guinness!  It's worth every sweet ounce too.  Only drink beer in moderation please. 8)
